It looks like I might have the opportunity to visit family at Lake Tahoe this coming July.
My plan is to ride my motorcycle. I have been looking at maps and have googled it...but...
I am hoping that someone here has a great route and would share it.
Thank you

I drove up from Baja in my MH a couple years ago along the eastern Sierra. A few spots that were nice visits were:
Silver Falls State Parkin Oregon
Lava Beds National Monument. The caves are neat and so are the nearby petroglyphs.

Go through Gerlach, take that thing out on the Black Rock Desert. Ride around Crater Lake. The caves at the Lava Beds are a great place to cool down (it's going to be hot!) but I was there a few days ago and many of them were closed to protect the bats. Tule Lake has a spectacular bird population but the road through it isn't paved and I'm not sure who you'd find in July.

Thank you for your comments...
This is the route that I have been looking at:
Seattle to Mt Shasta
From Mt Shasta... taking Hwy 89 to Hwy 44 to Hwy 36 into Susanville which turns into Hwy 395 and into Reno
Hwy 80 from Reno to Lake Tahoe
On paper this looks pretty good and like it could be an interesting ride as well as a somewhat direct route which I am kind of looking for.
Anyone ever taken this route to Lake Tahoe?... Anything I need to be aware of?
Thanks...

89/44 is long, winding, forested, with few views and lots of deer. Drove it twice and hope to never again. If you want direct, just do what google maps says, through Klamath Falls.

US97 to La Pine
OR31 to Valley Falls
US395 to Tahoe
Lots of opportunity for short side trips
Avoids I5

Thank you... Although I have deer whistles on my bike... a deer isn't your friend on a ride and I really don't want to find out that they don't "really" work... LOL

This route is looking pretty good and I love the idea of missing a lot of I-5, Seattle and Portland...

Thanks everyone...
When I put those directions into google maps at full screen there seemed to be a couple sections that I was worried about. Specifically the full screen didn't show any gas stations for some pretty long sections... I only get 45 mpg and only have a 5 gal. tank...
Then I took section by section in the areas that I was a bit concerned and there seems to be plenty of gas stations.... Right?
