Finders Keepers: story of the smoker sold at a storage auction...with a severed foot. Complications ensue. I could not stop laughing, it was worse when I paused it and found out it is *not* a satire.

Finally saw "Jojo Rabbit." I haven't really been a Taika Waititi fan previously, but I enjoyed this. It has a little bit of a Wes Anderson vibe IMO. Many really good performances. Takes a whimsical look at serious subject, but then it had plenty of gravitas when it needed to. I've seen Thomasin McKenzie in 2 films now (this and "Leave No Trace), I think she is an excellent young actress.

Ya know what bothered me about that movie. There were thousands of airplanes in the air during that time from both the Germans and British. Not if you watch that movie.

After watching Zack Snyder’s Justice League, all I can think is that the previous version was an absolute travesty, and a slap in the face to the original vision. Some will argue that by clocking in at over 4hrs this version was too long, but I loved every minute of it! All the parts now made sense; the thing flowed.
Edit #1: To tell you where I'm coming from, I should point out that, for me, Man of Steel is one of my all-time favorite superhero movies, and I have hated the shift to the Justice League, starting with totally unnecessary Batman v Superman. However, if you consider Batman v Superman to be a bridge for this Justice League than I take back some of my disappointment with the direction of the franchise.
Edit #2: One comment about the look of the film. With its 4x3 aspect and muted color palette, the film seems worlds away from the MCU. It feels like cinema of old (in a good way!), and if this stupid pandemic wasn't keeping us stuck at home I would have loved to have seen this in a theatre (preferably with an intermission). Maybe Martin Scorsese knew what he was talking about when he took a shot at the MCU. My biggest takeaway after watching this movie was that it was art.

Joe hard to come up with clouds of Spitfires, Hurricanes, and ME 109 without CGI which looks fake these days.

The theatrical Justice League is possibly the worst movie ever made. It is jaw droppingly bad. I think after watching it, I immediately watched Geostorm to get the bad taste out of my eyes. Geostorm - the movie where a plane freezes solid in mid flight and falls out of the sky, where a woman outruns a huge tidal wave as the ocean freezes solid behind her - was like Citizen Kane by comparison. That was how bad the first Justice League was.

I never even liked the JLA comics and I was 10 at the time. But I loved Spidy and F 4 at the same time.

I was a comic kid for decades! By and large I tended to prefer DC characters compared to of Marvel. While the Marvel movies (since Iron Man 2008) have been better made I liked all the DC movies. Frankly I was happy they were made, Green lantern not withstanding. They butchered GL. I watched 4 hour JLA (and YES its the Justice League OF AMERICA thank you very much! I LOVED the 4 hour version! Obviously Snyder finished the movie, so why wasnt it released in the first place? I also really liked Wonder Woman 1984. Im not sure a better actor could have been chosen for Wonder Woman!!!!

LOL. Dont forget the FW190's, HE 111's, JU88's ME110's etc etc etc. Those German fighters were escorting German light bombers.

We just saw Nobody yesterday. We'd wanted to see it in the theatres once our county's COVID-19 new cases had dropped enough, but it wasn't playing anymore by the time they did. So, we rented it on TV. It was a whole lot of fun! It's a bit like a mixture of Keanu Reaves's John Wick and Denzel Washington's Equalizer, but Bob Odenkirk is more fun to watch (for me). Without him you could knock the movie for not being totally original, but he's so good that I was thoroughly entertained. Highly recommended.

The girlfriend and I just blew through Zero Zero Zero. It’s an 8 episode miniseries that follows a large shipment of cocaine from Mexico to Italy and all the players involved. What a wild ride! Gritty, super dark, and intense. Best series I have seen in years.

Just got the Zach Snyder JLA on U4K DVD. Nice. Yes I can watch TV, I just have to be 12 inches away to see it.

I've been a fan of Juno Temple for a number of years. She's not exactly very well known, but she's been in a bunch of films. I haven't seen all of them. Just caught one from about a decade ago--"Dirty Girl." It's not really what the title implies. Two misfit high school kids become unlikely friends and partners in an escapade. She never met her father, the boy has a disapproving and abusive father. They go on a quest to find her dad. It's billed as a comedy but it packs some emotional punch, especially at the end. Good supporting cast--Milla Jovovich (not an action hero for once, just a regular mom), William H. Macy, Dwight Yoakam (why is he always a jerk in his movie roles?), Mary Steenburgen, Tim McGraw.
I think Juno is always good. I've enjoyed her performance in a number of movies that overall weren't very good IMO. I liked this anyway, but she was great in this. Like many things in life I don't understand, I don't know why she isn't a big star.

Apparently "Our Friend" hit the festival circuit in 2019 but was never picked up for wide release. Streamed it last night on Amazon Prime. Based on a true story. Tear jerker. Casey Affleck and Dakota Johnson are a married couple, Jason Segel is their close friend. She gets cancer. Eventually Segel moves in with them to help take care of the 2 daughters, do household chores, and whatever else he can do to ease their burden. Affleck has gotten plenty of critical acclaim, but all 3 leads deliver amazing performances, as well as the older daughter.
