Based on this comment, which rang true, I ordered a SAM splint from Amazon. Only 3.2 ozs, seems like a worthwhile addition.

We actually bought a bunch and tucked one into the back pocket of each of our packs (both day packs and overnight packs), so we never have to think about them again until we actually have to use one -- which finally happened last week.

If you would Foist, please PM me a link to this particular one or post it in this thread. When I do a search for foam splints I see a lot of different items. I imagine you have one you carry that's more all purpose or maybe oriented toward ankles? Thanks, ~z

Awesome. I bookmarked it. Need to get one of these. I've been carrying around an ACE bandage. This will be even better. Thank you! ~z

Careful, some "elitists" jumped on me for mentioning "artifacts"...now I refer to them as "junky, rusty, metal things".

+1...Rich, hope you recover quickly and completely!

I've been carrying one everywhere I go for the past few years. Even on my evening walks around Discovery Park in Seattle. Along with:
- Bandages of different sizes
- Medical superglue
- Naproxen
- Antihistamines
- Electrolyte Tablets
- Painkillers
- Duct Tape
- CPR Mask
- Nitrile Gloves
- Alcohol Wipes
- Albuterol Inhaler
- Body Tape
- Antibiotic Ointment
- Tourniquet
~1lb.
I hope I never have to use it. (Except the salt pills & naproxen! No avoiding that)
