Dang, that's a bummer, was really hoping to get up there soon. Found this on Facebook on Aug 15, although it doesn't add much info: https://www.facebook.com/MtBakerSnoqualmieNF/photos/a.469240823106798/4595135557183950/ "Wildfire Update: Two small fires caused by lightning on Aug 3, 2021 remain active. A fire in Penders Canyon is on a steep rocky slope and a ¼ acre in size. Yesterday a helicopter assisted an engine crew with bucket drops, and will continue today. The incoming marine layer is expected to assist efforts in containing the fire. The Sunrise Mine fire, under a 1/4 acre, is showing smoke and an engine crew was sent to assess the fire. Engine crewmembers will be responding to both the Penders Canyon and Sunrise Mine Fire today."

I wonder if this is the Penders Fire? Saw something smoky-ish from Circle Peak on Sunday:

Could be. It's the right place for it, and it's pretty high up the slope.

There's also a trip report on WTA saying that rangers were closing the Sloan Creek road (no. 49) because of a fire. But I can't find anything about a fire in that area and the fs hasn't posted any closures.

Seems like the entire earth is going to burn as was predicted many, many eons ago. redface.gif

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
