I’m aware of at least two approaches to Coney Lake (the one near Lennox Mountain):

1. From the east: follow an old road along the west fork of Miller River, then head up staying east of Coney Creek.
2. From the west: start from the north fork Snoqualmie River (FS 5730) and climb to Lennox mountain where you can descend to the lake.

I see mostly winter / spring trip reports, but I’d really like to go when there’s no snow. Are either of those two approaches preferable in the summer? I assume both will involve bushwhacking, but hopefully one has less?

Several possible approaches from NF including back side of Lennox.

My favorite is from Bare mnt/Bear lakes. In summer you won't be on snow via this route. Its a good alpine traverse on slabs, heather and boulder fields. No brush..just a rough way trail connecting the Bare mnt trail to Bear lakes. Once at Bear lakes, its all alpine. Great area to spend a couple days. Its probably the longer of the route options I think.

The Bare Mtn trail option lets you gain the elevation w/o bushwhacking. The traverse is longer than the one after you get to the W ridge via the NFK option. Both traverses are scenic and make for great late summer/autumn travel. Slabs and heather and no bugs. I recommend going after the first hard freeze.
