Only the new Costco on Hwy 9 in Lake Stevens is moving more dirt than the StillyTribe/USFS siltation mitigation project which includes diverting the river, huge crib walls, and de-siltation ponds or eddies.

Yes and the river downstream has been muddy ever since they stayed their fiasco or whatever you want to call it.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Here are a couple of links on this project for those that don't know about it https://nwtreatytribes.org/building-a-new-channel-to-keep-sediment-out-of-stillaguamish-river/ https://www.fs.usda.gov/nfs/11558/www/nepa/101918_FSPLT3_4273566.pdf It'll be interesting to see if this works as they think. I remember a slide up Benson Creek back in the 70's that was even larger than this one and it seems to have stabilized and grew over as they expect here.

Thanks for posting this info, Schroder. I was just about to start looking up the project. If memory serves, a slide and subsequent flooding wiped out part of the campground some years ago. Seems like a reasonable idea, but rivers always do what they want.
