Another stranded base jumper on Baring? Golly. The last one was a guy who went up there to jump off it, to memorialize another base jumper who fell and died.

Pretty cool, did they leave the pack? Couldn't tell from the video.

I'm guessing they left it. Guy could always go back with proper climbing gear to retrieve. Probably some expensive gear.

It was a year ago tomorrow that a BASE jumper died on Baring. https://www.heraldnet.com/news/search-on-for-parachuter-seen-falling-near-baring-mountain/

Awesome footage! I hope I never need a ride from those folks, but I sure am glad that they're out there.

I tried to do the same hoist from a Sea Knight helicopter on the North Peak of Mt Index once. The blades were too long to swing me in close enough so we had to climb up from the lake.

That gave me the willies. Nope, nope, nope. I know there must be a reason the base jumper couldn't just, you know, jump off the mountain he meant to jump off of, but it does seem a bit funny that a base jumper of all people would be stuck. I know, I know, his gear must have malfunctioned or something...

Something was happening as well out on the mountain loop last night, about 730 pm, two aid cars went through Verlot, then about a HH later a chopper flew over headed East and a bit south. Then about an hour or so later they all came back heading west, never heard what it was about.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

That is a great video and huge props (no pun intended) to the helicopter crew. Those blades look nice n close to the side of that mountain..... eek.gif

Isn't @car68 on the crew? Maybe he can comment on how tricky it was.

If I was that person I would name my first born after the pilot and crew. Amazing flying and steel nerves of all. smile.gif up.gif

@Schroder That sounds like it would have been quite a challenge
