I hope this is clearer. It doesn't show much detail on the claims or the road.

Are you all using a GPS and tracking your hike ? I think you went to high.

Yes, but according to the GPS, we only gained about 750' and need to gain about that much more again to reach the mine elevation. The mine is at 3500'and the parking lot is at about 2k...the brush just kicked our asses and we need to get an earlier start. https://westernmininghistory.com/mine_detail/10204960/ Next attempt we plan to stay in the wood to the west and stay out of the mangrove and cliffs.

Stay out of the gulch, and in the Forrest on the right side of the gulch if you want to get to the mine. You will hit the wagon road that goes from the mine to Silverton, WA (not very wide). The wagon road goes right to the mine, and the last bit is blasted out of a cliff face.
But, Hoo Doo gulch was pretty cool.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Jimbo is right, stay out of that gulch... your gonna have to fight the mangroves and smaller cliffs.

I am going to make it to the mine next time even if I have to spend the night out.
