Uh No -- 1977-1978 was an El-Nino year -- I recall Ski Acres (now Summit Central) only operating a few weeks that year. I recall hiking (no skiis or snowshoes) to the summit of Kendall Peak that January.
Uh no, you recall incorrectly 77-78 was normal, 76-77 was a very dry year and the ski areas hardly opened

I've been scanning old negatives and came across a few more of the ski area and lookout. These were in December of 1971, probably between Christmas and New Year. That was a really big snow year.

This is one in August of 1987 with my son and nephew. The lookout still has no windows and the south wall is solid.

Never skied there one of my big regrets.

You can still do it, just have to lug your skis about 8 miles uphill, then down the gun sight!

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

I always wondered how they stayed in business. The only times we considered going there was when Steven's Pass was inaccessible and that usually meant wet conditions at Pilchuck.

I love the old photos. Here is the lookout in September 1985. Just a cell phone shot of the original photo. I recall when the shipping container full of tools was placed on the summit for the refurbishing.

The ski school was their main supporter. The mountain had some good skiing back then, particularly at night.
