What a fun read. Please write more reports. I'm really impressed with your confidence in doing a long route like this solo. What I liked the most is that you carefully chose photos to post that tell the story of your trip -- I'm sure you took ten times this many. Picky photo selection makes for a great report
Fabulous report, thanks! I particularly like these lines
"There was no evidence of any human presence anywhere and I rejoiced at finally being in the Chilliwacks! For over ten years, I had been staring at the Chilliwacks longingly from places such as Hannegan Peak and Copper Ridge Lookout. Completely overjoyed to be there at long last, I stayed for the sunset and made my way back to camp via headlamp, triumphant. "
Absolutely Sublime
Thank you so much for sharing! Your images are incredible, and I'm sure that it was hard to choose which to post.
I imagine that this outing will be front-of-mind for you for a long time to come.
Having done a US approach to the Chilliwack, I think that the Redoubt High Route seems the most appealing. Perry Creek (my experience) and Silver Creek afford practically no views with notorious bushwhacks... As much as I love ridges and expansive views, I would even entertain the idea of heading back to the Chillis via the Redoubt High Route. Depot Creek wasn't my favorite approach either... Regardless of the way in, the Chilliwack will provide an adventure!
