Does anyone know where Camp "Stick-in-the-Eye" on the South Fork Hoh River in Olympic National Park was?  It doesn't show up on old USGS maps although the 1956 USGS 15' quad show a symbol which I think is for a building or ruined building.  The symbol is 2.5 miles west of Hoh Peak and a little over 4 trail miles east of the current trailhead.

From my recollection, the camp is (was) just short of 3 miles from the trailhead.  I believe the river has taken it out.  It was just after you dropped into an old river channel and into a small clearing.  I was there about 3 years ago and saw no sign of the old camp.

Wood's Olympic Mountains Trail Guide (3rd edition) says at 2.5 miles the trail "crosses a wide swale ... No sign or side path is present to indicate that Camp Stick-in-Eye is located in the woods to the right, on the north bank of the South Fork, hidden from from view by a screen of large conifers."

Wood says it got its name in 1978 so it wouldn't show on earlier maps.
