We live in the King County urban/wildland interface NE of Redmond. Our property has some pasture and also lots of big trees. Last summer we made an appointment to have Matthew show up, walk our property with us and point out some things we could do to increase the odds that our home could survive a wildland fire. This is a free service from the conservation district. I think they just started offering it this past summer.

Matthew's contact info is at the bottom of the above page.
Here is his bio: https://kingcd.org/2019/06/03/matt-axe/
The first thing he said when he got out of his truck is that he does not work for "King County" and is not any kind of zoning or building inspector. He works for the conservation district which is a separate legal entity. His focus is wildland fire and he does not care what you are doing with your property other than how it relates to fire.
Sure, you can read advice on this topic on various websites but by having an expert walk our property we learned some things that we did not know.
So if you live in the KC urban/wildland interface I encourage you to invite Matthew out to walk your property with you.
