I put together my summer PNW backpacking gearlist and hosted it on lighterpack.com: lighterpack I also went ahead and created a video which not only shows what gear I use but also explains why I choose this gear. Hopefully, this helps any of you who are either new to backpacking or are curious what others use and why.
I'll never forget my first backpacking trip. I met up with some college friends at Yosemite. My pack was huge and had so much unnecessary gear. What a struggle lugging that huge load up and down passes. Now, I can look at the pictures and just laugh at how unprepared I was back then. smile.gif

A few comments. Wool gloves aren’t very useful if it’s cold and raining. The Outdoors Research Versaliner have a both a fleece glove inner and a separate waterproof cover that can be worn. The cold soaking saves weight. A 500 ml Ti pot and lid (2.1oz) is a straight trade for the cold soak container weight. So a cooking set up is 2 ounces for a stove, and 7 ounces for a full canister (9 ounces heavier). The Ursack (225 grams) is much lighter option than even a carbon fiber canister (791 grams) where allowed. Both are far less of a hassle than having to set up a hang in pine trees.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...” ― Henry David Thoreau

Thanks for the feedback. I have a glove shell that I should add to the list. Totally agree with you on the bear hang. It's funny I bought a Ursack a couple years ago but haven't tried it yet. I need to give it a try. Sounds like it has worked out for you.

I don't see TP on your list. This essential item must be accounted for, not only for weight but especially volume. Especially for multi-day trips. Unless you use your hands.

Pine cones, with the grain.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

Of course you bury those - no wonder I have seen so many pine seedlings in strange places lately - seeds, buried, ferilizer - now it all makes sense smile.gif
