Alison Krauss described it as acoustic heavy metal. The vocal style is very distinct and takes a lot of getting used to, but many virtuoso instrumentalists in the genre.

Slug, you have likely already seen the yout vid of her Lay Down. I like her shut-down when the host tries to get her to talk about herself, and she says, "I'd like to just talk about the song, please." And I was pleasantly surprised to see this video; Melanie and Miley Cyrus, who showed herself to be a pretty darn good artist (the song gets better near the end).

Here's something a little heavier. Animals As Leaders have to be one of the most technically proficient and interesting rock bands out there right now. Matt Garstka is a monster on drums, while Tosin Abassi is redefining rock guitar. Poor old Javier Reyes - no slouch in his own right - has the unenviable job of rounding out the trio. Oh yeah, both guitarists play 8-string guitars, there's no bassist in the group.

It twangs, but at its heart it has a hard driving rhythm that has some rock in its DNA.

Re: "Convoy" recorded in 1978. The first music recordings considered to be "rap" music date from 1979. Spoken rhymes over a spare drum line. Was "Convoy" the original rap song? dizzy.gif

She has a nice voice, most of her songs aren't my style though. This one caught my ear.

I'd heard a few of her other songs. Usually more synth pop, the guitar in this one adds a different element.

Sure glad I kept all my own records and still acquiring more. Found Jimmy Buffets Changes in attitudes, changes in latitude last week for buck and a half, in great shape too. I see where Walmart is selling albums now, Fleetwood Mac Rumours, $21.99

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
