Along SR20 in Concrete WA there was a majestic old school that was undergoing reconstruction. Below, photos from 2005 of the school house and the “castle” near it. It’s been a few years since I’ve been out that way and I’m wondering whether this magnificent project was ever completed, and what the buildings look like now. That old school looks like the perfect setting for a Stephen King novel. The castle near it looks dramatic as well. What are they like now?

Don't think so.

Was anything built in its place? Or is it an open space now, 14 years later?

Looks like the caretaker forgot to vent the pressure on the boiler.

This is a true story. We were doing an ordinary fire drill at my old school a long time ago and everyone had to go outside, but when the staff tried to turn off the fire alarms when the drill was over they wouldn’t turn off. So we stood outside thinking that it was still a drill, we waited for a while, and then a fire truck came and firemen rushed inside, we were so confused. It turns out someone in the cafeteria kitchen had accidentally left a stove on when the drill started and everyone walked outside, it caused a minor fire but with little damage.

To have a good life, you need to take risks.

I'm confused. The castle thingy on the right originally built in 1938 obviously burned. Is the original "District School" built in 1910 still standing or did it burn as well? Couldn't figure it out from anything I could find.

Both buildings burned, including the old district school. The old high school and gym that are a bit to the left of those 2 buildings & outside the photos are still there.
