I will be climbing Revolution, north of Mailbox, on Thursday. If anyone would like to join in the climb drop me a line. I plan on starting the hike at ~0700.
What does this climb entail? Is this a crampon/ice axe sort of thing? Or is it a snowshoe trek? Being that I have less than a couple weeks at my current job, I think I have a little bit of sick time left. However, I'm not sure if I could quite make the 0700 part, due to the time I'd have to call in. But, let me know the details!
Revolution Peak is marked as Point 5454 south of Russian Butte and north of Malibox. It is probably on the Mt. Si USGS map. The footing is at 800 feet and the summit 5454. Much of the way is on logging road and then it will be to gain a ridge. Snowshoes definately. I always bring an ice axe in the winter but it probably won't be needed. No crampons needed. The 4,600' gain for the day necessitates an early start as there is little daylight. WTA.org had a writeup of this peak on Dec 29. The views to Russian Butte should be wonderful on what looks like a sunny day.
