Well, this is pretty ghastly.
I've been trying to figure out if old L. D. is a relative (we share the same last name), and I came across this. A photo of one very dead bear, and some grizzly old timers armed to the teeth.
Ghastly because you can't decide whether to shell out $300 for the print?
I assume this is the same L. Lindsley whose name is scratched on the rock below Chikamin Peak? I was up there a week ago and saw the names, but they are getting pretty faint now. The dates on the rock (1898) and the photo (1900) suggest it's the same person.
FWIW, I have a very similar photo taken around 1910 in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, of my grandfather standing with a shotgun on a "heap" of dead bears.
