location, location
Is your picture of the approach to Boston Basin and Eldorado ? It looks like the left side of the picture resembles the trailhead to Cascade pass. Drock

How about off Easy Ridge?

Ladies and Gentlemen: Please note that mal con did not simply say Easy Ridge. He said, "off Easy Ridge". Way more accurate than I expected and too easy (for him) to recieve any cash. Nice job!

It looks like a nice place. Where is Easy Ridge located? How about another one since no one claimed the prize?

Easy Ridge (not to be confused with Easy Pass) and the very easy, Easy Peak, provide access to the Northern Pickets via Perfect Pass. The peak just left of upper center, under the spaghetti sauce stain is Inspiration PK in the Southern Pickets. Some of you may have read at cclimbers about an amazing 'possible' first winter accent that was made up the west ridge last week.

Too bad there is very nasty Perfect Impass eek.gif between Easy Peak and Perfect Pass. From Perfect Pass you can traverse the Challenger Glacier to even more spectacular Challenger Arm.

Easy Peak? I beg to differ! There is nothing easy about Easy Peak! First to get to Easy Ridge, you have to ford the Chilliwack River. Then you have to locate the start of the climber's path on the opposite bank, which in years past was marked by a rock cairn and larger stick stuffed vertically into the cairn. The climber's path is relentlessly steep, and has lots of blowdown to be negotiated. Besides, consider yourself lucky if you can escape the area without being drenched by the torrential downpours that haunted us both times we made an attempt to climb Mt. Challenger using this approach! Once on the ridge, though, the views are incredible! smile.gif

The "peak" is just a steep dirt slope as I remember it. Pretty easy. wink.gif I drug a once a year hiker over it and he has no taste for exposure at all. That is why I think of the Peak as easy. If he can do it, anybody can. The overall trip was strenuous, I agree. Chilliwack was low and we found the trail on the other side with no problem. We were lucky and got to just under Easy Pk the first day. But the flies were horrendous until we got way up the ridge. Views were as good as it gets. IMO.
