Ummm..... cause it wasn't at Snoqualmie. The "Husky Hut/Snow Dome" was over near the eastern portal of the Stampede Pass tunnel.
I "think" the Husky Chalet was on part of the old "switch back" line that used to go over Stampede pass. Some remnants of buildings can be found on the west side of Martin creek.

Dumb me ..
Two passes. Two train's. Two ski area's around the same time and close to each other.
I guess that that clear's it up for me.

The Snow Dome/Husky ski area was right at the eastern portal to the Stampede Tunnel. If you look around outside the tunnel on the north side of the tracks you will see remnants of the lodge (foundation).
I wonder if UW still owns the land?

I agree, Lowell's site is packed with info. and I will be snagging one of his books as soon as they are made available.
Most of the information I have on the Stampede area came from the NP Railroad history group. I purchased about 250 pages of documents/photos/maps that detailed their investigations, building and finally sale of the Snow Dome. The doc's also had info on the Milwaukee Road ski site and Meany Hut area..... Interesting stuff.

I have a 1939 ski guide that referenced a ski area in WA called Monad Lake. I don't know if its a mis-print what, but I've been unable to locate an acutal lake of that name. Its not a book, but a paper ski guide.

I noticed the old steam locomotive No.2152 while visiting this park a few week's ago for the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall. I imagined her almost 100 year's ago screaming up to Stampede Pass ..

Dumb me, don't know why I didn't look this up sooner! The State of Washington's "Lakes of Washington", Vol. I and II list no lake with the name Monad, or anything similar. So the name is either a nickname or a private name for another lake or for an unnamed lake.
