I'm in the south end, but haven't done much along Hwy 20 but Sore Feet convinced me it's something I need to do in the near future. Consider me a possible companion if you have a hike in mind. I'd love to explore some new terrain... Michael

Haven't made any decisions where to go yet. Have been doing some research on a few of the high lakes. Have also been about half way up Swift Creek from Baker Lake (want to finish in Heather Meadows). Several other trails time permitting.

I'm down south near Federal Way/Tacoma, and I'd love to get up to Hwy 20! I just don't want to do the driving OR have to get up at 3am. suuure.gif

I have had the honor of meeting CrazyJake (and it turned out I had worked with his wife when I was in college!) What a small world is all I have to say biggrin.gif I have met a whole crop of hikers off of the backpacking and hiking forums online (including my boyfriend Synchro, who is new to these boards). Wouldn't trade he experiences!

Hi Catwoman, Don't blame you for not liking the drive. My Mom used to live in Federal Way and now lives in Tacoma. Have an alergic reaction to crossing the Snohomish county line. dizzy.gif winksmile.gif

Hey there Pappy. Not as bad as I used to be since moving to Woolley. I still get an occasional twitch when I haven't been out for awhile biggrin.gif Have hills and mountains on 3 sides and it helps with the therapy winksmile.gif Highway 20 corridor is beautiful. Have been investigating some of the old abandoned trails over the last few years. Some of them offer some excellent fishing and photos. Some have old growth forests of devils club that make for interesting navigation. Are you ready to go yet?

Hwy. 20 hiking
If anybody asks you to do the Devils Dome- Devils Pass, Jackita Ridge, McMillen Park, Ross Lake loop. DECLINE. It"s the only trail I have hiked that loses more elevation than it gains , and it gains 8500' in the 50+ mile loop!!! eek.gif moon.gif
