PCC must also have non poisonous bacon, and I didn't realize about Whole Foods and the unions, thanks for the heads up.

Cooks Illustrated tested cooking hash browns with bacon fat, oil, and butter. Neither bacon fat nor oil produced hash browns as well browned or as tasty as those made with butter.

Why don't all the non-union workers at Whole Paycheck quit their jobs? Man, I hate paying union dues -- what a waste of money!

If it's such a waste of money in your case, your bargaining unit should decertify. Or you could just quit your job, as you suggest the WF employees do. or you could pay agency fees under the guidelines established by the Beck ruling. Plenty of options there for you. In the perfect world, we wouldn't need unions at all, unfortunately this here world we live in is not perfect, and this grocery store has been positively Wal-Mart-ian in its union busting tactics.

But it could mean the difference between hash browns and...harsh browns. hockeygrin.gif

You can get non poisonous bacon at Whole Foods Market
Yeah, but it's union busting non poisonous bacon. PCC must have bacon that's not poisonous, and it's fully unionized bacon.
Try the Wellshire Farms bacon, thick sliced from PCC. We're quite fond of it - have it every Sunday morning up.gif I think Whole Foods is way too pricy for most stuff anyway. Ironic that they're engaging in those business practices. I didn't know it, thanks for calling it. The only good buy there, is organic radicchio as far as I can tell lol.gif

Whole Foods does have the best-looking meat department in all of the land though. Sometimes I enjoy just taking a look at the selection and not buying anything, so to speak. humpy.gif

I have been eating bacon for 46 years- I guess a little poison won't hurt ya too bad! eyes.gif By the way, my Mom made some of the world's greatest doughnuts (NOT donuts!), and she swore that the secret was to fry them in bear grease. This is not very easy to come by unless you happen to know some bear hunters, though.

I would like to be the first to testify that Brian's Cook's hash browns were the best I've ever made. up.gif I did them with Yukon gold and didn't wring them out since Yukons are less starchy.
