See the attached article for information on slide shows that Fred Beckey is hosting on Monday and on March 19.

It's pretty safe to say that if we take all of man kinds accumulated knowledge, we still don't know everything. So, I hope you understand why I don't believe you know everything. But then again, maybe you do.

I'll probably be there at the U of W slideshow on Monday. Should be a good show and a great chance to see Beckey. Michael

I didn't go and was actually a bit bummed for having missed it. That is until a co-worker who attended mentioned there was really nothing to miss. Sounds like, for the most part, all he did was read from his new book.

I'm not sure public speaking is one of Beckey's strengths. He came and gave a slide show at the Hi-Lakers several years ago. While it was interesting, it didn't rank amongst the most memorable Hi-Laker shows.

Agreed, Brian. The slide show I saw a few years ago was underwhelming.

I thought the Author's Hour interview was pretty good.

I thought the author's hour was good too. Seems like some people were expecting a reading from Challenge of the North Cascades and forgot what the subject was. hmmm.gif I was lucky enough to be invited to a Fred slide show at a friend of a friend's home. Fred was very entertaining and informative. But we'd all had a few beers. In a crowd of many cool cats, noted NW climber Alex Bertulis was the cool.gif est. And by the end of the evening, living fully up to his billing, Fred had a young woman on his arm. BEWARE OF BECKEY: HE'LL STEAL YOUR CLIMBS AND YOUR WOMEN at least that is what the T-shirt he wore said. biggrin.gif

I have a copy of the original Beckey's Climber's Guide to the Cascade and Olympic Mountains of Washington. The one with a green cover published by the American Alpine Club. I wonder if Fred would autograph it for me.
