Odd...I have not heard Tom Shane on the radio recently. |
This thing was spotted about 1000' up from the MFK road underneath Quartz Mountain. Shane must be a peakbagger.

Went up Alpental today. Sweet stuff, though starting to get skied down. Barely found a parking spot at 12:30. 10 minute waits at Chair 2. Not bad, but surprising for a weekday. Guess everybody else had the same idea. It will probably be nuts this weekend. Heading up to Stevens where hopefully the backside will be less crowded.

Crowd was due to midwinter break in schools Tom. Lots of kids and parents are off this week.

Au Contraire, it has been established that Shane is a lake bagger, and indeed, was on a trip to Gem Lake and Rock Creek looking for diamonds. The area is across from Price Mountain, which he always conspicuously avoided. This is all from his friend Ann Twerp, with whom he had left a rather large note. Unfortunately the only food he brought was 24 carats--not brilliant thinking in this case. This might seem like alot, but he forgot to hang his pack and a rabbit got into it, which left him with only two carats--a snack in the rough if ever there was. Still, the story will have a happy ending. This lake bagger will be back in Puget Sound it is predicted late April or May, but not all of him at once.

IAC coughed up some grantdough. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! What a place, Milk Creek!
Thanks to advocacy groups like WTA and their efforts, more NOVA funds are available for hiking trails.

I went to Crystal last Friday and it was excellent. I broke the rachet buckle on my binding but I know I can fix that before the next week.. I hope we continue getting snow up there.

Not dumping yet, but looks like we could get a pretty nice dump mid week. Keep those naked snow dances going.

Supposedly they are expecting 2+ feet at the pass tonight... Wow, it's looking like a late hiking season. I'm glad my chants permits are going to be in August......

Thank god. At least the glaciers won't be so jacked up this year.
