So where to things fall in order of importance? 1. For example, I'd rather not see a Chalet at the top of Alpental that can be seen at the summit of every nearby peak. But maybe the chalet would be out of site anyhow. 2. I'd like to be able to hike to Kamakaze Falls, but item 1 is more important to me. 3. Historic trails that are disappearing. Is this more important that K-Falls, or less so, or is K-Falls a prime of example of a trail that will soon be a future footnote in Becky's Blue book. 4. I don't like to see Gold Creek Valley developed, but it sounds like there's a lot of private property there, and the owners should be able to do something with it...

I'd put three before two, and if I knew more about it, might get behind tighening up the zoning in Gold Creek to keep the place from turning into another ugly suburban subdivision, which would move 4 up in the rankings.

1 - There's already a bunch of goofy-looking chalets at Alpental, what difference would one more make. the place is already spoilt IMHO - I say develop the heck out of it and leave the rest of the mtn. range alone. 2 - Where is Kamakaze Falls again? 3 - Get out your pruning shears, time to get to work. It would be nice to see the Marble Pass trail near Silverton get resurrected again 4 - Monte Cristo circa @1900 looks nothing like it does today - I've always been amazed at how nature envelops abandoned human settlements over time
