If the weather was good, I'd head to the ocean, since it's a more weather-dependent destination. If it gets rainy, Olympic Hot Springs is a neat spot. I was there 4 weeks ago for the day and had a blast. Biked the 2.5 miles of road to the springs from the current road end which is now the trailhead- makes for a fast trip back to the car. Went midweek and the gate about 2 miles from the trailhead was open; a half dozen cars were parked at road's end. I'd think you could expect quite a few more on a weekend, but overnighters could get plenty of solitude before and after the day hikers arrive. Have a great trip!

If I'd known ya was gonna use bait I wouldn't a brought ya!

Were you there before or after the big washout?

Checked the date from the pictures I took and was there Feb. 19th, 2003. The creek about a quarter mile from the road end had washed out the road quite extensively, but I just carried my bike across on the exposed rocks and scrambled up the bank. Wondered at the time wheather high water during heavy rains or snow-melt would make this crossing more difficult or impossible. Don't know if this is the washout HB is referring to.

I was in that area Thurs & Fri and it rained so hard I could hardly see the road. Reports were 12" in 2 days. Very strong winds also. Here's a link with old info but would expect the chasm to have changed as well as some blow downs. Olympic Hot Springs Trail NN smile.gif

It's pretty safe to say that if we take all of man kinds accumulated knowledge, we still don't know everything. So, I hope you understand why I don't believe you know everything. But then again, maybe you do.

That was the site of the first hike to Boulder Lke when we were staying at the resort. I remember they had a big pool and three small stinky ones, as I was very young.
