I'm planning a trip down to the Painted Hills in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument soon to catch the wildflowers. The NPS website recommends late April to early May. Has anyone been there that can recommend when to go? Anyone been there recently? Anyone have advice of roads, trails or viewpoints to take? I'm planning to spend 4 days, including drive time.
