My plan was to go up to Silver Peak but my plane went down the creek. Didn't have snowshoes,(didn't think snow would be an issue at the trailhead), forgot my wool socks (cotton socks on my feet obviously wouldn't do) then I couldn't even see the trail with all of the snow. I opted to eat my lunch on a treestump and enjoy the developing clear sky, chirping birds and the peace and quiet of nature. I had been able to drive up to about 3600 feet before snow covered the road. My Honda was no match for the deep snow. I tried that once and got stuck on Thanksgiving day. Took some pics of the area and of the creek along the road.
Hope to go up in a month or so when I can see a trail.
About a quarter to half mile at most to the trailhead. From my car I made it to the Mt Catherine trailhead in about 5-10 minutes, 15-20 minutes from PCT trailhead.
