Last night a friend and I went to Benaroyal for Mozart's "Requiem". What a surprise it was to run into Rubberlegs and his daughter a few minutes before the concert began. As if that were not enough of a surprise (albeit a pleasant one), they ended up sitting right behind us. It's always funny to run into people I know from the trail in civilized places -- but it's always fun to run into Rubberlegs. As they old joke goes, hiking with Rubberlegs is just pure PUNishment. That's funny. Last night I went to Benaroyal also, and who shows up but Karen! My daughter enjoyed meeting this famous author and I enjoyed seeing her again. And my, what a dapper gentleman was escorting her. Then after chatting for a while, we go our separate ways... sit down... and they are right in front of us! And then Quark was there too but we didn't see or hear the elementary particle. Sure is a coincidence that your stories are so similar to mine! Methinks the next social should be at a symphony concert.

I wuz waaaaay up front. One thing about going solo is that you can squeeze into great seats. I tried not to snarfle too much with that goofy grippe I had. You may have thought you heard an oboe but it was my nose bloe. The Season is winding down, one or two more events - okay no more than three more, then it's time to concentrate on Outdoors.

Karen never jokes. Ever. Quark never jokes neither. Never. If we wanna call it Benadryl, or BeenABoil, or BenzAMile, or BentAFoil, so be it. The hall is instantaneously renamed and we walk smugly about, cultured and intellectual, and enjoying our incredibly clever names.

For some reason I missed a good part of the Requiem, but I am sad to hear that Mozart died.

I think he died in 1987 along with Ernest Borgnine in a boating accident on the Hudson. However, I could swear I saw him, Chris Marlowe (that rake!), Elvis and Rick Nelson hanging a new billboard in Lacey last weekend.

I was bummed because I thought we were going to see Mozart's Requiem Live, but the main man himself was nowhere to be found. Just some wannabe posers performing his work for him -- way worse than the typical lipsynching to studio albums while dancing around onstage we get with other mainstream performers.

Look, you will never see a requiem performed by the person who it's about. It's just not the nature of the thing. And I want to clear up this Christopher Marlowe thing once and for all. He did not write any of Shakespeares writings (uh, duhh!). Shakespeare wrote his own writings. Marlowe may have been a rake or a rototiller, but Shakespeare he was not. mad.gif
