Picked up a bunch of old post cards at a flea market today including this one: it looks like the 1950s and it may be Lake Serene or Barclay Lake to me but am not sure. Any other good guesses or does someone recognize this spot for certain? The photographer was Fred Shaw but there is no date and the peak/lake are not named. The postcard simply says "Washington State" and then a brief description on this one of several peaks surrounded by mountains and evergreens and fed by clear, cool streams which have their source in glaciers, etc. Karen

Hmm, doesn't look like either to me. The peak in the background looks familiar but I can't place it.

Hmm, well there is a lake to the left of this picture which is about 300' - 400' lower? Maybe this one should be called Big Twin and the other Little Twin so not to confuse. confused.gif

Pappy, sorry for the confusion. I meant that the original 'post card' looks more like Lower Twin to me. I was not referring to your picture of Upper Twin which certainly looks like the higher and bigger of the two lakes. I believe the 'post card' shows Lower Twin with the north summit of Hubbart Peak in the background.

You may very well be correct. The low point at the far end of the lake(s) looks similar, but the foreground in the postcard shows some white water dumping into the lake. It's been over 10 years since I've been there and I don't remember that at the upper lake. Anybody?

I'm guessing the postcard was taken from the inlet to Lower Twin.

Tom, that seems correct. It has also been a few years since I was there so I can't be absolutely certain. Pappy, good work on initially recognizing that shot!

I suppose anything is possible but me thinks Lower Twin Lake would still hold up in court considering Pappy's picture.
