Does anyone know if the Salty Dog Saloon is still in operation in Port Angeles? I worked for Olympic Nat'l Park in 1977 and, after work, my crew and I used to go there and indulge in various muscle relaxants. Somehow I ended up in Sacramento and I haven't been back since. Beautiful area, fantastic hiking, would like to visit again someday. Go Kings!

Salty dog? Dunno. I've lived in Port Angeles the last two summers (and will be there again this year) Could it be called something else now? where in P.A. was it? The parkies all go to Sirens now...

The only Salty Dog I've ever seen is in Homer, AK. It's an ancient bar, with sawdust on the floor and every square inch of the inside COVERED with everything from ship's memorabilia, to the standard bras and panties, to business cards to dollar bills, etc. There was the hip pocket of someone's jeans nailed to a board that read "I lost my ass at the salty dog!" Awesome place to toss back a few cold ones.

"Wildness is the preservation of the world..."
