An interesting article on Peg and Bill Stark and their naming of the Enchantments can be found at this link: http://www.wenworld.com/sub/story.php?id=1158345608-448-949

Thanks for posting the link. I met the Starks back in the 70's on my second trip into the Enchantments and they were kind enough to give me a map they had made. It had those special names and i've used them ever since. Bill was Mr. Enchantment and will always be so in my mind.

Yes, thanks for posting that. Did I miss a thread, or has there been nothing posted about Bill Stark's passing last week? Holy mackerel, I hope I'm able hike to places half as demanding as the Enchantments at age 84, the way Bill did. I never had the honor of meeting him; may he rest in peace.

A fuxk, why do I not give one?

Yes I second that. Rest in peace Mr. Stark. God bless you.

Wow, facinating... I always wonder who names certain peaks and lakes and the enchantments had such interesting names that I did wonder. Very nice. Very much would have enjoyed meeting that couple.

I never had the honor of meeting Bill Stark either, but what an inspiring person - both he and his wife. WOW what a life they had TOGETHER. I also did not hear of his passing until this thread. God bless, and what a legacy left.

Ive heard some wonderful stories of both of them from Don at High Camp. Great people.
