Looks like the Pac NW is getting hammered with some record high rainfall...how will this affect areas already considered for repair of washouts from seasons past? Will new studies be required, will new washouts mean reconsideration of fixing previous ones?

Hard to say what the damage will be, but from the reports I'm getting, this could be even worse than the fall 2003 floods. Nothing from trails, of course, but stream flows on a lot of rivers are really high, and these are many of the same conditions we saw in 2003: heavy sustained windfall, warm temperatures. And add to that some gusting high winds. Not pretty.
I don't know what all the fuss is about with this supposed "rainstorm". We've had barely a sprinkle all day in Lynnwood. Hardly enough to water the lawn, let alone cause flooding. It's pretty weird, since we are usually in the convergence zone rainshower area. But from looking at the weather radar images several times today, hardly any rain fell on this immediate area. 90% of the day it was not raining at all, and it was just light sprinkles when it did.
