I mean, are they going to reconstruct the entire road so that one can now drive to the memorial?

I have not heard this. The typical washout before Tahoma Creek is now a major washout, and the culvert is gone (Tahoma Creek trail is also completely gone in many places). The fact that the road washes out nearly every year here (or near), I doubt it's true. Mike emphasized that history will play a major factor in deciding what gets repaired and what doesn't. History also doesn't bode well for the Carbon River Road, though I have heard rumors thru several different organizations that a lot of public pressure is being put on the park to find a fix.

FYI - as suspected, there is no truth to the West Side Road rumor. Confirmed.
