I'd never backpacked in the snow so I decided to continue my love affair with Lake Lillian this weekend. The short story:
* Starting early rather than late is a good thing.
* Leaking boots suck. Still not sure if blisters wouldn't have been better.
* Snow takes a freakin' long time to melt and boil.
* One night in the wilderness is never enough time.
* Pulking on moderate slopes, especially when groomed for snowmobiles rocks.
The long story can be found here. (WARNING: Tons of uninteresting stuff for my family.)
Hey nice pics. Thanks for the report.... Hmm, shouldnt your camo be more on the white side?

Actually, that's my upstream neighbor, Jeremy, not me. I was in ninja-style all-black.
Amazingly, though, he did actually blend with the trees a fair amount. Kind of looked like someone had mounted a pair of snowshoes on the trees if he stood perfectly still. (And I closed my eyes.)
