For once, TNAB had great weather conditions on Tiger Mountain, the evening of April 19th. Most folks chose to meet at the trailhead, just outside the the gate to the High Point entrance. Role Call!
Carla (dicey)
Chris (Magnum/SpodeeOdee/don't call me that!)
Craig
Damon
Don (Malachai Constant)
Joanna (Whitedog)
John (Moosefish) and Tokul (canine)
Kim (Quark)
Mark St.
Nikolai (twodogdad) with Boon and Dock (canines)
Yet (brownie queen)
Yours Truly (brownie delivery unit)
We got a nice and early start just after 5:30 PM. Our first task: conquering the Cableline trail. Steep, eroded, and muddy, it never-the-less makes a beeline straight for the summit of West Tiger Three (WT3). Of course, we weren't the only ones on the trail - lots of people going up, coming down, or generally running around WT3!
The gang made it to the summit of WT3 by 6:45 PM. Time for brownies, round one. We caught our breath, then left the crowds behind as we headed for WT2, one half mile away. We tagged WT2, then took the service road over to WT1.
It only took a half hour to go from WT3 to WT1!
Then the fun started. the plan was to take the more knee-friendly trails on the backside of WT1 and trace our way back to High Point. Somewhere along the way, our group of twelve became two groups of six. The first group, presumably lead by Don (MC), took a left at the critical fork and exited as planned. The second, "lead" by Yours Truly, took the gravity route out, exiting on the far end from the High Point entrance. We followed a crescent moon back to the cars, only to encounter Nicole (rainier2007) and her friend Cathy driving home - they had arrived late but still found time to get up and down WT3. Cool!
It took us a little over four hours to complete the loop. Good times!
Next Hike: Dirty Harry's Peak, April 26th.

As always, more (but not that much more) here.
See you all in 3 days! And that includes you, Tazz. If not at the hike, then at the after-hike.

I am SO bummed that I couldn't make this one (no ride from the train station)
I'm even more bummed that I can't make it this week. I've GOT to go to dragon boat practice because I'm going to be gone backpacking this weekend.
NEXT week for sure !!!

Ughh! Now I feel like such a slug!
We went to WT3 today to do a "conditioner," which means pushing the pace past comfortable with a fairly heavy pack, and it took me 1:10 to get up the cable trail huffing as fast as my decaying bones would go. Now you tell me that this huge socializing group only took 5 minutes longer! I think I see a rocking chair in my future!

Thanks Yet
I have to do dragon boat practice this week because I'm backpacking out on the coast all weekend and race season is coming up.
I can't speak for Morgain, but she's currently working a 4:00 AM shift at work which is pretty brutal.
I WILL be back!
It was too much fun not to come back!

Dicey probably won't say it, but I think she was significantly faster than 50 minutes. She left everyone in the dust and didn't even look stressed when we arrived at the top.
It's a good thing she's so humble and fun to hike with or nobody would want to go on trips with her.
