We visited Alaska Lake today. The access road to Gold Creek trailhead is full of deep potholes. Even with our SUV it was slow getting around. The parking space at the trailhead is very limited. Gold Creek trail is nicely brushed out for the first 3 miles or so. We had to use sandals to ford three high running creeks. The 1100 feet over one mile up to Alaska lake were quite a chore. Trail without any signs of having received maintainance for years. At the lake it was rather cool. We observed some fish jumping in the lake. We met one guy ( the only one all day) around 2 PM while descending from the lake.
