The route to Dirty Harry's Peak seems to be earning the title "most hated trail" as of late, at least among TNAB'ers. The former logging road is rocky and often resembles a streambed. Nonetheless, TNAB showed up in force to give it a go - woo hoo!
We last gathered at Exit 38 just a month ago to visit the Balcony. On that trip, over 20 people showed up. This time, we numbered 14:
Andrew Chris M. Chris S. Damian Daniel
Don Erin Heidi Joanna John
Maridee Nikolai Yet Yours Truly
(three dogs, too)
We started promptly at 6:00 PM. Once on the trail, our group quickly began to stretch out. I took the precautionary step to place wands at strategic locations to aid the unfamiliar.
At the main switch just under eastern talus field, the trail literally turned into a stream. Fortunately (heh), that quickly turned to snow at around 3500 ft el (I'm guessing). From there, it was follow the footsteps to the summit.
The soggy and chilly advance squad reached the "summit" right at 8:00 PM. The views were...non-existent. Our reward - brownies!
Needless to say, we didn't stick around long, and quickly turned our sights downhill. Mercifully, the hike ended just after 10:00 PM. Ahhhh...you can bet we won't be back for a while!
Notes:
Don (Malachai Constant) successfully located the "Museum"
Erin and Maridee wisely chose to visit the Balcony instead
Andrew drove all the way from Bremerton to join us...cool!
The brownies were delicious, as usual
Next Hike: Mt Si via the old trail

Yes, I consider myself rather dashing in them.
How the heck did it happen that I didn't recognize Mal. Guess it had been a few years since Camp Buster. Oh well.
Great folks. I finally can say I've done a TNAB.

I had a great time. Had a little trouble getting up for work at 6am though. And I ache a bit. See you next week. -Andrew
That streambed trail Mark was talking about Daniel and Chris. Even though they are behind me here, they kicked my butt to the top. 1 label That stupid snow towards the top. My socks were SOAKED. I got a picture of the view on the way up. I timed it perfectly with the 10 seconds of sun that we got.
