At the Mountain View restaurant in Silverton after climbing Morning Star: Before dinner: Randy: "I'd like a burger deluxe with cheese." Waitress: "Round here we call that a cheeseburger." During dinner: Waitress (taking a picture of the group): "Everyone smile and say bullsh##." After dinner: Randy (gesturing to the unfinished plate of fries): "We did our best with the fries." Waitress: "City boy." There was also a road walk, post-holing uphill, summit in the clouds, glissade downhill, another road walk, cool terrain some of the time, cool people the whole time. Someone will fill in the details eventually.

Well, I had a pretty good slice of apple pie a la mode. Can't say I recommend the water, though. hockeygrin.gif

I didn't think Silverton was even populated, much less by witty waitresses in a restaurant I've never noticed before.

Okay, a quote from mountaineering part of the trip: Yana (brandishing her bared ice axe): "If anyone even thinks of going up the wrong gully, I'll kill him right now so I don't have to miss the summit waiting for him like the idiots who went up the wrong gully on my last attempt." Okay, that's a paraphrase, but it's only slightly exagerrated.

My pics- Over half of these were taken by Yana with my camera since hers had a fit or something, and I wasn't inspired by the fog/clouds to take many. biggrin.gif

Magellan, and anyone else that cares: there is a great route description in this previous Morning Star trip report. Partners in crime today: Matt, Tazz, dicey, don b, cartman, Randy the trail breaking machine, PiB, and Mesahchie Mark. Here are some of my pics: The road walk to the trailhead:

Man, that was an awesome trip. biggrin.gif Looked like fun! The pictures came out great! How does Morningstar compare to Vesper in views, difficulty, etc? I did Vesper last year and fell in love with that mountain and that area. up.gif
