Oh, you're gonna have to work hard to explain that one, pilgrim. |
Dood, it's just like every Western: the bad guys get it in the end.

I love Sam Elliott in everything he does, especially the Big Lebowski. And the beef radio commercials.
We saw Ratatouille yesterday, I took my almost-5 year old. It held his interest the whole time, and he reports that it was "great." I thought it was pretty good too (except all the rats in the kitchen, no matter how clean they are and how "cute" of a movie it is, still grossed me out)... although our other plan was hiking at Staircase, and he decided around 9am that he didn't want to go, so I was pouting a little bit.

Finally saw 'Apacolypto' on DVD. Goodness, that movie was incredible. Once again, not getting too deep. Visually stunning, storyline riveting, best chase scene ever, and I am thinking about it every day for five days now. WOW!!! |
Magellan-
They're more than meets the eye (re:Transformers).
My wife just got Apocalypto on Netflix. I wasn't planning on watching it, but maybe I should

They are more than meets the eye? Is that the best you can do? Now I'm thinking this is some kind of sick marketing ploy designed to get me to see a movie based on a cartoon I never saw. Pretty tricksy.

All you need to know about Transformers is big f...ing robots beating the crap out of each other and a hot chick or three watching the chaos. Nothing else needs to be said.

As Sgt Maj Basil Plumley in "We Were Soldiers."
I've never seen a scary crusty ol' Sergeant Major played so well. He was brilliant, and delivered what may be my favorite line in a movie anywhere just perfectly.

Both he and Mel Gibson deserved award recognition for that movie. But because it was pro America and pro military it got ZIPPO recognition.

Magellan and GeoTom:
I saw Apocalypto in theatres when it was first released and I was riveted from the intro on. Mel Gibson did so much research to accurately portray the Mayan culture as best he could. Even the eclipse looked real. I loved the ending - I would have concluded the same thing if I were in his shoes! It was also great that he hinted at a few reasons why their culture ultimately died off but still left you wondering for the most part.
I watched The Guardian as well as The Lake House the other night and loved them both.
I'm watching Shooter tonight on DVD.

I watched My Super Ex-Girlfriend last night.
I only share this with you all so you don't make the same mistake.

That was good -- but the one that got me, and needs the set up from early in the movie, is ". . . That's a nice day, Sgt. Savage. . . "
