Those 'Secret Towers of the Himalaya' are incredible. I am going to see if I can find a copy of the documentary.

Everyone knows sunflower seeds trump illegal cairn-building.
I didn't know that, thanks ! Maybe you could expand a bit on this idea Quark. It would be nice to know just where certain activities stand in terms of the hierarchy of illegal things to do in the wilderness . Where does hanging stinky underwear in a tree to dry , stand for instance ? I always strive to be politically correct and so wouldn't want to do the wrong thing at the wrong time, in the wrong order.

If it's your birthday, anything goes (except sunflower seeds). So hang your dirty underwear wherever you want, Mike E blowout.gif Keep the sunflower seeds hidden.

I want to know what weighs more, Yukon J. in a flask or carrying the little airplane bottles. They cost $1.00 apiece at our local liquor store. Then you can say you drank a bottle. I will get one out and salute the cairn story....it is a good story! up.gif up.gif

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Now there a $1.50 thanks to the delusional WSLCB. A 50% increase after the tax is repealed. Only in the peoples republic of Washington could this happen.

...wait...are we just going to hang here or go hiking?

Hmm, I might have a hard time NOT breaking that thing down. At what point do they become defacto litter? That thing is not necessary. I would argue that no cairn's are necessary in the Enchantments.

Beyond Lost- That was an actual "cairn" that Jasper (dog) and I encountered on the hike to Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain near Mt. Hood. It was right at the trail junction where one needs to make a sharp left towards the summit. Apparently they (whoever they are) wanted to make sure it wasn't missed.
