Get out! Get out! Saturday no rain is forecast! I will be watching the timing of posts when I get back from my foray into the woods to see who is not enjoying the wilderness!

Art is an adventure.

I'm definitely getting out this weekend, at least one day if not both. I just don't know where I'm going yet! Baker River is first in my mind, but that's a long drive to the trailhead. Maybe Staircase? CRG? I don't know!! confused.gif

Well, shoot! I WANNA get out! Want some company this time, though! Actually, I'm thinking going to the coast for some clam digging sounds kinda fun (anyone wanna go?), but snowshoeing would be good, too.

The truck took me to Mt. Pilchuck, up the road I met a fellow hiking (Mike Rice) and said climb in, made it to the lot on the pretty nasty snow drive of about 5 miles, climbed to the peak and signed the register at 12:52. Grand views! Got a sunburn, too. A great day to be in the mountains as well as get in some exercise.

I spent Saturday up on the North Cascades Highway photographing the snowy mountains, lakes and an amazing display of icicles. I got there too late for the morning photos I wanted, but still early enough to beat most of the people. Stopping the car at Diablo Lake to photograph Davis Peak I was hit with the absolute silence of the area this time of year. No cars, no voices. Only a light breeze rustling in the trees, the faint murmur of he river below and an occasional snowslide on a distant slope. Warm sun shining, not a cloud in the sky. It was heaven.

Well, I played stickball with my brother for about an hour, then returned to my sanctum sanctorium and resumed giving myself carpal tunnel syndrome. rolleyes.gif Finals do sort of wreak havoc on my outdoors time.

Saturday: walked several miles along the North Fork Quinault. Passed a herd of elk along the way. First Skung Cabbage of the season in some of the swampy areas. Sunday: spent noon sunning on the 4th Kalaloch Beach.
