I'll be taking my girlfriend camping this weekend. She has only been camping a few times when she was younger. Im curious if anyone can tell me of a good campsite near Sunrise. Just something we can drive up to and camp. Any help would be great. Thanks. confused.gif Mark

White River campground. 10 minutes from Sunrise, no reservations needed, chances are it'll have room when the other two biggies are full.

Well, if you didn't mind hiking in 1.3 miles you could stay at -and for free!- at Sunrise camp-it is the old car camp at Sunrise and sits above Shadow Lake. It is Very pretty! You are above 6,000ft, the skies are very clear, great view of parts of Burroughs Mt., lots of chipmunks and marmots and the lake is perfect for swimming in. You do need a permit though, but that is free. If you did stay at White River campground, stay in a site on the river if possible, near the Wonderland Trail, it is very soothing. Warning: you will hear RV's all day and night in that campground!

There's also The Dalles and Silver Springs just outside the park along 410. They do usually fill up on the weekends tho, so get there early if those are contigency locations.
