I saw a VH1 interview with the Go Gos a few years back. The band told the story about playing a concert in Australia where the crowd kept chanting for them to play "Arliss the Seal." It took them awhile to figure out they wanted their hit "Our Lips are Sealed."

Hahaha, for 35 years, my mom actually thought that's what he said. Funny thing was, a long time ago, she was talking about how much she liked that song, except that she didn't like what he was singing about. My dad and I just thought she was talking about the drug reference Turned out she hadn't even got that far...

This thread prompted me to google the lyrics for a Luna song, 'cause I like it and have wanted to know the words. (like touron, I'm lousy at hearing the lyrics).
The lyrics to this song is proof that sometimes it's best to just leave Google out of it.
I Know You Tried
i went to your street
at seven in the mornin'
and while you were asleep
i read your newspaper
i saw you out walkin'
out walkin' with your father
pretendin' not to see me
pretendin' to be a family
i know you tried, baby
i know you tried
i know you tried to go on
saw a metal object
lyin' in the street
and when we turned away
it stood itself up
you circled the island
in a chevy caprice
you stuck out your tongue
and your nose began to bleed
i know you tried, baby
i know you tried
i know you tried to go on
i know you tried, baby
i know you tried
i know you tried to go on

I heard Paul McCartney's "Band on the Run" as "Fag on the Run."

Death Cab for Cutie's Crooked Teeth.
The line in question:
I braved treacherous streets
and kids strung out on homemade speed
What I originally thought it said:
I braved treacherous streets
and kids strung out on homemade sweets
I like my version better.
Sadly, right now I'm a poseur. Sigh.

College roommate was sure of two things:
Beach Boys were singing about "Bopper Ann"
and
Led Zeppelin "and there's a wino down the road"

Scrooge, I don't even know you, but right now I feel like strangling you. I've been singing "there's a bathroom on the right" nonstop for two days. While I'm cooking, while I'm cleaning, while I'm doing laundry....
I can't stop.....
I need help.....

My sister used to think "Voices Carry" was "Oh Sweet Sherry".

A good friend of mine used to think that the line from the Pearl Jam song Jeremy "Jeremy spoke in class today" was "Jeremy smoked in class today"

Micheal Jackson singing "but the chair is not my son".
Huh??
Sisters of Mercy singing "hey now, hey now, now, sing this corrosion to me", I heard as "hey now brown cow, sing this...".
:wumpscut:'s song, Wreath of Barbs, which has been heard by my friends to actually say "Reek of Bobs", and by my to say "Aretha's box".

my favorite song when i was 4 or 5 was the chevy car commercial song......i still think those chevy commercials with the big truck climbing a mountain sound like "when i grow up".. (it's supposed to be "like a rock").
