Place: Lake Valhalla and Mt McCausland via Nason creek
Vert: 2147ft
Mileage: ~6 miles
Weather: Overcast to snow later on, 22F
Players: Tazz, Dicey, Yana, Lori, Gabrielx, Magnum, Mesahachie Mark, Mtn Man
Everyone showed up at the parking lot just past the Stevens Pass Resort. It was slightly overcast, but we knew that it was going to dump out there. It was nice to meet a few new faces, Lori, Magnum, and Mesahachi Mark.
The group consisted of 4 tele, 3 AT, and 1 splitboarder. It was Tazz's first official backcountry trip with her "Precious", the Voile Mojo 161.
We headed up Nason creek way and the skinning was fairly easy with variable conditions.
It started to get a little steeper and the group spread out a little more. The clouds started to roll in higher up:
We made it to the lake area and it started to dump around 10-1030am. Here is Lake Valhalla with Mt McCausland in the background:
A few of us decide to summit, while the rest do laps around the lake. After many switchbacks we make it to the summit. The snow was dumping at this point and the views were non-existent. AFter a PBJ, we decided to enjoy the fruits of our labor:
Dicey, dicin' up the powdah:
Mark jibbin' the windlip:
We meet back up with Tazz near the lake and head back down through the trees.
Dicey looks on, impressed by Tazz's backcountry prowess
Lori enjoying the pow:
Dicey shows us how tele is done the right way!
Dicey and Tazz have a little fun in the gully:
Eventually, we all get back to the cars to find ~3" has fallen so far. Cheeze was had, stories were shared, and everyone had a blast up there! A big thanks to all who planned this trip since I'm a nOOb to the area.
Can't wait for the next outing!!!

Thanks for the tr write up MM. The videos crack me up!
What a friggen BLAST!!! Great day for hanging with great friends and playing in the snow. The conditions where really good for the most part. The worst part is when I am flying down and the boards nose drops under the crust that would show up and surprise ya! I took 2 really violent cartweels. The first one I didn't think I would get my head out of the snow! I was trying to play ostrich I had snow in every opening it could find. About 3 inches of it packed between my back and pack... . I LOVE IT!!!
Thanks to everyone...fun times. BTW skinning beats snowshoeing any day!
Now for some flat light shots.

goof
"put your left foot in put your left foot out and turn yourselves about!" sang by dicey as we changed coarse...
good thinga bout this site is it is diverse. Don't have to be on snowshoes or boots to post here. It is all about getting out in the mountains and sharing it. Yup it was a blast!

hhhmmmm. glad you guys had a fun time.
We hiked across the street to the trailhead, does that count
It's kinda hard to hike in 3+ ft of snow, so we cheated and used sticks w/ sticky cloth to move up the mtn, it's all good!

Fun trip! Only wish the snow conditions were a little better. I was kinda surprised how fast we got to the top of McCausland (3 hrs and change). Great group to hang with, and getting Ixtapa chow afterward topped it.
Now leave my butt alone!
