Good recap of the night's events, Yet! No description though of the bouncy log over Ten Mile creek with people rattling the rope? embarassedlaugh.gif That is one slick log, especially with a little snow/ice on it.

DHM did this frequently on the ALW trip; while I would be shaking in my colorful layers, hoping fervently for warmth to return, he would be trodding around camp in a sarong or shorts without a care in the world. Yet another reason for me to be envious of the men. tongue.gif They get to be warmer than us and have a handy way to code 91 it? Not fair I cry.

I think that's kinda where I am right now. The dark thing is a little scarey to me.... plus the fast aspect. While I don't think I'm a slow hiker, I'm not a speed burner either. Seems you have to be to make it to some of these places in the limited time available. Maybe I should concentrate on dropping the extra 30lbs I'm packing around the midsection..... smile.gif

A great way to drop the pounds is by simply increasing activity. I'm 55 pounds UP from where I was at the end of last season. I'm not happy with it, but it's not going to stop me from giving it a go. The hiking in the dark bit isn't really a big deal. Best way to get over a fear or concern is to meet it head on.

Yea I suspect you are right. In any event I plan to do after work quick hikes up Tiger/maybe others during the summer. I quit work at 3PM and can usually be on the road somewhere from Renton/Fairwood by 03:00 or 03:30 if I have to bring my daughter home from school. The hiking in the dark thing is probably a bigger deal to my wife in reality although more concern with somewhere I've never been especially with a poorly defined trail/route.

More than once I considered sitting down and waiting for you and Mark to catch me. However, to do so would require me to make concrete my faith that you all actually were behind me, and I wasn't prepared to learn that I was mistaken. So, I kept moving on the belief that you were back there rather than risk finding out that you weren't! biggrin.gif Looking forward to the next hike!

Eric, the other thing you might find helpful is a radio. We usually have 4 or 5 scattered among the hikers. Just double check the frequency we'll be using that night before leaving the cars, then you can buzz someone for directions, etc. And of course, always bring your own map and strong headlight in case of temporary off-course wanderings! lol.gif
