Just wanted to say these work great, should have got one a long time ago. Tom is right, it slips right into your pocket and is soooo handy for weighing items in da store.
I picked up a 9" aluminum plate ystdy for $3, which I was able to quickly determine weighed 3oz. (I plan to experiment with it as a fry pan on my Snow Peak stove.)
The folks at REI didn't bat an eye at my weighing shenanigans
