I did this one as a long twenty mile dayhike. It took me eight hours plus to complete. It was a little steeper and rockier than I had anticipated but the changing scenery made it worthwhile. Passed one busy berry grabbing bruin right off the trail above Dear Lake. Backpacker at Seven Lakes Basin report ice on there tents overnight. Fall colors becoming prominent and a few late flowers were blooming high up.
I've always wanted to do this one but am not eager to commit to the looonnng travel time from Seattle area.
Of interest might be a report by ethorson on wta.org of an extension of this loop that includes the Cat creek basin traverse. What a day that would make!
I love the bogachiel trail. I went up there for a 3 day hike and ended up walking 28 miles. It was rough. we walked up to the peak the first day then walked back to deer lake, then went back up the next day. I have always wanted to try to walk the whole thing in a day. Was is tough?
