That means two things: 1. If you have a drink.gif , then you need to drink faster than the glass flows otherwise the drink will eventually spill. 2. If you are making stained glass windows, make the people a little bit thinner than they normall are. As the glass flows down, they will get a little fatter and look more like themselves. I wonder why stained glass is only found in catherals usually? Why can't a McDonalds have stained glass (I mean the regular stain, not ketchup)?

Are there any makers of stained glass in the Puget Sound region?

I took a metallurgy class while going through school, and the deal with simple glass (normal silicate glass, not composite ones with plastic layers) is that glass is not a solid, it's actually a supercooled liquid. Odd idea, but it's not actually in a solid/crystal state, one that meets the chemical standard for such. I don't remember why. Anyway, since it's only a supercooled liquid and not technically a solid, it flows, very, very slowly of course, and gets thicker at the bottom. this apparently happens to all plate glass and is even obervable in glass only 50 years old or so, though it's way more obvious in the much older stuff. What this means for the truly long term (hundreds of years) stuff in really old buildings, I have no idea.

Quark, my assumption would be that you pour glass into a mold thereby the threads are already there. Tacoma is sure showing signs of doing some great stuff for its downtown core!

I've read depleted uranium is heavier than lead and harder than tungsten carbide. If it's not too brittle, I think it would make a great axe head or splitting maul.

..is that because of Chiluly's glass displayed there, or because of screw tops? I read today in the Puget Sound Business Journal that Tacoma hired a Seattle research firm to find out ways to shed it's inferiority complex. That's pretty funny.
Partly becuase of Chihuly. The light rail. The high speed internet access. The UW. The cool looking bridge.......

What Gertrude Stein said about Oakland, California (comparing it to San Francisco) applies to Tacoma: There is no "there" there. It will always lag behind Seattle as long as the geography stays the same, that's for sure.

The president of my firm doesn't know cray(p)ola. She thinks just because she has given birth to two kids she is some honcho. She has a monopoly on my sex life! That's an injustice!

What a bunch of idiots. The glass school is still in Arlington. That thing with the cone on it is a glass MUSEUM where you can no doubt see a lot of Chuilulie, uh, "art". OK I have to go eat some candy and drink some pop now.

Hey Marylou-- Your new avatar is groovy. I'll be heading up Iodine Gulch one of these days soon. And you're spot-on about the Chihuly, uh, "art"!
