Technically, they ARE hiking gear, cuz you can drive them up to the trailhead!
Both of these have been around the block (ok, several hundred thousand blocks) and have their idiosyncracies, but they drive well. Both have about 240,000 miles and are automatic transmissions.
-- 1986 Volvo 740 wagon, $900. My daily driver until we got the Prius. Was holding onto it for trailhead use, but now have decided it's time to pare down. It's main idiosyncracy: Speedometer has to warm up before it'll work
-- 1989 Volvo 740 sedan, $500. Great engine, but cosmetically the car has issues (needs paint job, plastic pieces coming unglued). Main idiosyncracy: Overdrive switch needs to be replaced; overdrive goes in and out.
PM me if interested.
