Quick Summary:

Attendance:  Schmidt Altitude, Steve (Yukon222), Chris (Magnum), Don (Malachai Constant), Larry, BarbE, Rich (meandmyaussies), Joe the Traveler, Peggy (RunningBird), Troy (Mountainsun), Dale (one2laugh), Mark C, Jim, Yet and Yours Truly

Bit of a disjointed start to this one, with several starting early and a few arriving late and hiking the road instead.  Good weather for this hike, cooler and somewhat overcast - but no rain.  Quite muddy on the lower trail.  The Falls are in fine form.  Snow started about 3/4 the way up, growing to a steady cover that offers some glissade opportunities on the way down.  Views from the top were poor.  Wet trail conditions lead to many slips on the way down - gotta be careful on this one!

Cheers,
-Mark

For any that may have walked the road are we past the point of wanting snowshoes at any point on the road?

I assume not desired/needed on the trail?!

From the road approach, the snow gets pretty heavy and it's hard to follow now.  However, it was consolidating nicely, so you probably don't need snowshoes in either case.

As one that walked the road I was thinking that it is still somewhat ski worthy for at least two maybe three miles.  The trick would be carrying them up the first 4 miles - all for some mediocre skiing.  Perhaps more than anything it would be to say you went skiing on Teneriffe in June.

Mark, Thanks for scheduling this one - it is another I have wanted to do and not been enterprising enough to do on my own.

My daughter and I were home alone for the week and decided at the last minute to meet everyone at the trailhead and just scoot up the trail a bit.  Unfortunately Dad couldn't get the girl hustled out the door quick enough and we wound up missing everyone (well, almost everyone - a couple of TNABers, Mark and Jim, showed up just as we were taking off).  We sallied forth and had a good time anyway, logging a few miles round-trip, before remembering it was a school night and shuffling off for home.  My wife had the point-and-shoot so I took a few shots with the Blackberry, but only this one wasn't entirely blown out:

This TNAB thing is easy!

Hope you all had a good time at the top!  Looking forward to seeing you again this Thursday!

Thanks Todd!!! I hope it's not once in a lifetime for then what is there to look forward to when I aim my camera.  smile.gif

The falling darkness required for the shot really shows the advantage of being the last one to the top.  wink.gif Fortunately, Troy was good enough to delay his descent and keep me company while I took pictures.

Unfortunately, I think I'm out of town for this week's hike.  bawl.gif
